Cape Cod Weather Report: Summer Heat Returns on Monday

CAPE COD, MA – The summer heat and humidity are slated to return to Cape Cod on Labor Day and may persist through midweek. While temperatures are expected to remain below the advisory threshold, select areas could see conditions severe enough to warrant an advisory.

Today’s weather is expected to be sunny, with a high near 76 degrees and a southwest wind between 6 to 9 mph. Tonight will bring patchy fog after 5 a.m. and increasing clouds, with a low around 67 degrees.Labor Day is forecasted to start with patchy fog before 9 a.m., but will otherwise be mostly sunny. The high temperature will hover around 78 degrees. Wind speeds are expected to shift, starting with a southwest wind at around 7 mph before turning south in the afternoon.Monday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 64 degrees. The southeast wind will be around 5 mph.While forecasted heat indices for the general area are between 90-94 degrees, specific locations, particularly urban centers across the Connecticut River Valley, could experience higher values that approach the minimum threshold for a heat advisory. Officials suggest that it may become necessary to issue a Heat Advisory for these select areas of southern New England.
