Suspect Charged in Murder of Mariame Sylla in Prince George’s County

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged Harold Francis Landon III, 33, of University Park, in the murder of 59-year-old Mariame Sylla of Greenbelt.

Sylla was reported missing in late July. On August 1, human remains were found on the 7300 block of Old Alexander Ferry Road in Clinton. DNA testing confirmed the remains to be Sylla.

An autopsy is underway to determine the cause of death. Landon, who was already in custody for an unrelated assault charge, now faces first-degree murder charges.


The motive remains under investigation.

The Prince George’s County Police Department collaborated with multiple agencies, including the Greenbelt Police Department and the FBI – Baltimore Field Office, among others, in this ongoing investigation.
