HAMPTON, NJ – Colonel Patrick J. Callahan and local first responders gathered today to celebrate the 100th birthday of Bob “Gibby” Gibson, a lifelong Hampton resident and a dedicated servant to his community and country.

Born on September 4, 1923, in Hampton, Gibson served in the United States Army during World War II. His military career included fighting in major campaigns such as the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

After returning to his hometown, Gibson continued his life of service by joining the Hampton Fire Company. He climbed the ranks and became the Chief in 1957. His commitment to public service didn’t end there. Gibson was elected as the Mayor of Hampton in 1966 and held the office until 1971.

For decades, Gibson has actively participated in various service roles within his community. Currently, he serves as the Vice President of the Hampton Relief Association.

The local community expresses its gratitude to Gibson on his milestone birthday for his lifetime of service to both his country and his hometown.
