WASHINGTON, DC – Hours after issuing a shelter-in-place directive, George Washington University has lifted the order caused by a perp that escaped police custody from a nearby hospital.

The action was initially taken when Christopher Haynes, a 30-year-old man identified as a homicide suspect, managed to evade police while in custody at GW Hospital.

As of the latest update at 7:45 p.m., authorities were still in pursuit of Haynes.

“Haynes was last seen with black handcuffs hanging from his right wrist. He is possibly wearing a black t-shirt and gray shorts,” the D.C. Metro Police Department said today.

Haynes made his getaway at approximately 3:30 p.m. from the hospital situated on the 900 block of 23rd St Northwest. He is 6 feet tall, weighs 205 pounds, has brown eyes, and shoulder-length dreadlocks. Initially, Haynes was seen dressed in a white suit, white T-shirt, grey shorts, and one red shoe.

Additional details provided by the police indicate he was last observed with black handcuffs on his right wrist and might have switched to a black t-shirt and grey shorts.
