BRICK, NJ – Lisa Crate, current Mayor of Brick, has officially announced her candidacy for re-election, focusing her campaign on a track record of fiscal responsibility, community development, and support for veterans.

During her eight years on the Council’s Business and Finance Committee, Crate was instrumental in implementing conservative fiscal practices. Under her guidance, municipal spending saw a moderate increase of $13.9 million as compared to a $29.6 million increase in the eight years prior. She also played a key role in reducing the township’s debt by over $30 million, an 18% reduction, and ensured that tax levy growth was 55% lower than the preceding eight years.

In her role on the Council’s Land Use Committee, Crate was part of the team that established the Village Zone. The zone aims to protect the township from further high-density residential development and allows for a mix of commercial and residential uses in specific areas. She also backed a partnership with the Ocean County Land Trust to acquire 31 acres of land, effectively preventing the development of nearly 60 homes.

Veterans in Brick have a dedicated advocate in Mayor Crate. Serving as the Council’s veteran liaison, she partnered with a local veteran to create Hometown Hero banners, honoring residents who have lost their lives in defense of the country. She also advocated for free beach badges for veterans and helped the township gain recognition as a “We Value our Veterans” community.

Mayor Crate is also committed to community engagement and unity. She has been involved in several park renovation projects, introduced the Touch-a-Truck event at the National Night Out celebration, and supported community events like SummerFest and the Brick Farmers Market. Further community involvement plans include hosting the town’s first Longest Table Event this fall.

With a track record in fiscal responsibility, development control, veteran support, and community building, Lisa Crate is formally entering the campaign with an established legacy and clear goals for the future of Brick.
