Afton Woman Wins $200,000 in Virginia Lottery, Plans to Use Prize for Son’s Tuition

AFTON, VA – Deborah Williams received a 50X the Money scratch-off ticket as a gift from a friend, marking her son’s upcoming departure for college. That ticket turned out to be a $200,000 winner, according to Virginia Lottery officials.

The ticket was purchased at Blue Ridge Grocery in Nellysford. Williams plans to use the prize money to cover her son’s college tuition costs.

50X the Money is one of the numerous scratch-off games available through the Virginia Lottery. The game offers prizes ranging from $20 to $3 million. This win marks the third $200,000 prize claimed in the game, with three more yet to be claimed. Additionally, two top prizes of $3 million remain unclaimed.


The odds of winning the $3 million top prize in the game are 1 in 1,836,000. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.03.
