Moped Bandits Terrorizing Bronx Residents

NEW YORK CITY, NY – A series of robberies involving mopeds and firearms have been reported in the Bronx, affecting multiple victims.

One incident occurred on August 8 at about 5 p.m. when an individual approached a 42-year-old woman in front of 801 East Gun Hill Road. The suspect displayed a firearm and forcibly took her jewelry. The individual fled northbound on Bronxwood Avenue riding a red moped. The victim suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene.

Another incident took place on August 18 around 9:22 p.m. Two males entered a bodega at 1106 East 216 Street. One brandished a firearm and demanded cash from a male employee and three customers, totaling $2,183. Both suspects fled the scene on separate mopeds, heading east on East 216 Streets toward East Gun Hill Road. No injuries were reported.


The first individual is described as a male with a medium complexion and heavy build, last seen wearing a black helmet, black facemask, black hooded sweatshirt, black gloves, black pants, and black sneakers. He was armed with a firearm.

The second individual is described as a male with a medium complexion and slim build, last seen wearing a black face mask, a blue hooded sweatshirt with a “PUMA” logo, blue jeans, and white sneakers.

The New York City Police Department has released media of the suspects through the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information (DCPI) and urges anyone with information related to these incidents to call their Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit tips online at the Crime Stoppers website.
