Man Sentenced to 24 Years for 2021 Weehawken Murder

WEEHAWKEN, NJ – Joseph Palacios, a 24-year-old resident of Weehawken, has been sentenced to 24 years in New Jersey State Prison for the death of Michelle Paola Castillo Siguencia.

The incident occurred on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at approximately 6 p.m. Officers from the Weehawken Police Department responded to a medical emergency at 561 Hudson Ave, apartment 1, where they found Siguencia unresponsive in the bathroom. She was pronounced dead at 6:48 p.m.

Palacios pleaded guilty to Aggravated Manslaughter and was sentenced last Friday by the Honorable Vincent J. Militello. The sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act.


The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be stab wounds to the neck and the manner of death to be homicide.

Palacios was arrested shortly after the incident at an apartment in Union City.
