Woodbridge Clinches Narrow Win Over Linden in Big Central Showdown

WOODBRIDGE, NJ – A hard-fought match between Woodbridge and Linden ended with Woodbridge narrowly emerging victorious, 20-19, leveling both teams’ season records at 2-1 in the Big Central.

Derek Anderson of Woodbridge led in passing with 115 yards but didn’t manage to throw any touchdown passes. He did, however, run for two touchdowns, including the decisive score in the fourth quarter. On the ground, Jamir Beal contributed with 54 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Linden’s Tequan Thomas showcased his dual-threat capabilities, throwing for 57 yards and rushing for 115 yards. He ran for two touchdowns and threw another to Jawon Lee. Lee led Linden in receiving yards with 31.


Jon Mena of Woodbridge recorded a sack, adding pressure to Linden’s offensive efforts. Myles Hamilton of Linden led all players in tackles with 13, while Woodbridge’s top tackler was Jordan Byron Williams with 7.

The first three quarters remained scoreless for both teams. The action picked up in the fourth quarter when Derek Anderson’s run opened the scoring for Woodbridge. Thomas responded with a series of scores for Linden, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.

The game came down to the final minutes, with Woodbridge clinging to a one-point lead that they ultimately maintained until the clock ran out.

Next up, both Woodbridge and Linden will continue to battle it out in the Big Central as they look to improve their records and standing in the conference.
