First-Time Lottery Player Wins $77,000 on Way to Dentist Appointment

by Jessica Woods

BALTIMORE, MD – A West Baltimore grandmother’s decision to play Racetrax for the first time paid off, winning her a $77,253 prize. She bought the ticket at Royal Farms #014 while on her way to a dentist appointment.

The woman, known as “Baby 1,” was near her dental appointment when she decided to buy a 10-draw Racetrax ticket. She chose a Superfecta wager with the Bonus feature added on horses 10, 9, 7, and 1 to finish in that order. The fifth of her ten races met these conditions, and the Bonus tripled her prize.

“Baby 2,” her husband, scanned the ticket later that night, disbelieving the win at first. “I went through scanning it about 100 times to be sure,” he said.

The couple, parents to five adult children and grandparents to 11, plan to use the money for a winter cruise vacation and to pay bills. They intend to keep their lottery luck a secret.

Royal Farms #014 will also benefit, receiving a bonus of $772.53, which is 1% of the prize, for selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more.
