FELTON, DE – A collision between a Volvo truck and a Ford F65 led to a fatality yesterday morning at the intersection of Sandtown Road and Burnite Mill Road.

At approximately 7:36 a.m., a 2016 Volvo truck with an empty trailer had stopped at the intersection’s stop sign. A 2003 Ford F65 was approaching the intersection westbound on Burnite Mill Road.

The Volvo began to turn eastbound on Burnite Mill Road, causing its trailer to intersect the path of the Ford. The Ford’s driver tried to steer right to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. Both vehicles ended up in a soybean field off Sandtown Road.

The driver of the Ford, a 44-year-old man from Woodside, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Volvo, a 48-year-old man from Bear, Delaware, was uninjured. The road was closed for roughly five hours for investigation and removal of debris.

The name of the deceased is being withheld until family and relatives are notified.
