Daycare Owner, Neighbor Arrested after Deadly Day at Bronx Daycare Center

BRONX, NY – The owner of the Divino Nino daycare center in the Bronx has been arrested, along with a cousin after a child died from a fentanyl overdose and three others were rushed to the hospital.

Four young children were found in critical condition, leading to the death of a one-year-old, within the facility at 2707 Morris Avenue in the Bronx

On Friday afternoon, officers responded to a 911 call reporting multiple children in distress. Upon arrival, police discovered a one-year-old male, a two-year-old male, and an eight-month-old female all unconscious and unresponsive.

Narcan was administered to the children.

They were rushed to Montefiore Medical Center, where the one-year-old male was pronounced deceased. The two-year-old male is in critical condition, and the eight-month-old female is stable. A fourth child, another two-year-old male, was taken separately to BronxCare Health System and is in stable condition.

The deceased has been identified as Nicholas Dominici, a one-year-old male from the Bronx.

Arrested in connection with the incident are 41-year-old Carlisto Acevedo Brito and 36-year-old Grei Mendez, both residing at the incident location. They face multiple charges including Murder: Depraved Indifference, Manslaughter: Person Under 11 Years Old, various counts of assault, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
