NEW CASTLE, DE – A 14-year-old from Philadelphia and a 17-year-old from Wilmington were arrested Sunday morning, following their stop close to a Biden security checkpoint on Barley Mill Road in a stolen car.

The situation unfolded at 8:00 a.m. when an officer stationed at a traffic control post observed a silver Hyundai stalled at the intersection of North Buckridge Drive and Barley Mill Road.

At that time, two masked individuals exited the car and then attempted to push it. As they were approached by the officer and a United States Secret Service Agent, they climbed back into the vehicle and fled.

They drove on North Buckridge Drive into a dead end and then onto Barley Mill Road towards Centerville Road. Officers suspected the vehicle was stolen and began converging on the area.

By 8:45 a.m., reports came in of two males, fitting the description of the earlier subjects, attempting to break into a car at Brandywine Springs Parkland. They fled into the woods, leaving behind the Hyundai. A K-9 search ultimately led to their capture.
