MELBOURNE, AU – Anil Koppula’s high-stakes lawsuit against the Royal Women’s Hospital was dismissed last week by the Supreme Court of Victoria. Koppula sought 1 billion Australian dollars, approximately $643 million USD, claiming the hospital was responsible for causing him psychological harm.

In 2018, Koppula’s wife had a successful C-section at the hospital. Years after the event, he alleged that the hospital and its staff had failed in their duty of care by “encouraging” and “permitting” him to witness the procedure, leading him to develop a “psychotic illness.”

The case, extensively covered by Australian media outlet 7 News, marks a notable dismissal in the realm of lawsuits related to medical procedures and psychological trauma.
