SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced today that Guillermo Ayala Jr., 30, of Calverton, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision. The sentencing follows Ayala’s violent assault on his ex-girlfriend and her family in December 2022.

According to court records and Ayala’s own admission during his guilty plea, the defendant choked the mother of his children and threatened her with a razor blade on December 2, 2022. The following evening, Ayala forcibly entered her parents’ home, where he attacked several family members with the same razor blade.

During the home invasion, Ayala punched and slashed the face of the victim’s father and also assaulted her uncle, causing permanent disfigurement. Ayala bit both men on their arms during the struggle.

Additionally, he slashed the victim’s aunt on her arm.

Police arrived at the scene while Ayala was being restrained by family members, still holding the razor blade. He was arrested on the spot.

On August 21, 2023, Ayala pleaded guilty to Burglary in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing. Today, Judge Timothy P. Mazzei sentenced Ayala to 18 years in prison, with an additional five years of post-release supervision. Ayala was represented by attorney Joseph Hanshe.
