ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – On September 10, officers from the Atlantic City Police Department successfully pulled a man from the ledge of a parking garage, averting a potential tragedy.

At 3:03 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to the top floor of a parking structure regarding a man seen lying on the ledge and repeatedly looking over.

Surveillance Center staff pinpointed the man on camera and offered real-time updates to the responding officers. Officers Adrianna Petinga and William Harned were the first to arrive on the scene.

The officers carefully initiated a conversation with the man, who remained facing away from them on the ledge. Concerned that their arrival might trigger an irreversible decision, the officers acted swiftly, rushing towards the man and pulling him back to safety.

However, the man attempted to escape their hold and move toward the ledge again. To ensure his safety, officers were compelled to take him to the ground and place him in handcuffs.

The individual was later transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for evaluation. Officers Petinga and Harned were assisted in their efforts by Officers Jorge Cruz, Sabri Drinks, and Janicquea Harold.
