OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Joshua Daniel-Enoch Cox, 39, of Denton, Texas, was sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for interstate travel with the intent to engage in sexual acts with minors. Cox was initially indicted by a federal grand jury on July 21, 2022, on charges that included distribution of child pornography, transportation of child pornography, and attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.

According to court documents, Cox had contact with a federal Online Covert Employee (OCE) through an internet messaging application, having been referred by a Confidential Human Source (CHS). Over several weeks, Cox sent multiple files containing child pornography to both the OCE and the CHS and expressed an interest in engaging in sexual activities with minors. He later coordinated a trip to Oklahoma City with the intention of meeting two fictitious children for sexual acts. Cox was arrested at an Oklahoma City motel on June 24, 2022, and confessed to his intentions.

Cox pleaded guilty on October 20, 2022, to the charge of interstate travel with the intent to engage in a sexual act with a minor. U.S. District Judge Jodi W. Dishman handed down the 18-year sentence, noting the severity of the crime and the necessity of shielding the public from future criminal acts by the defendant.

The case was a result of an investigation led by the FBI Oklahoma City Field Office and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany Edgmon. Following his prison term, Cox will be under supervised release for ten years.
