TRENTON, NJ – Leafwell, a health research organization, has released a study identifying the healthiest cities across New Jersey. The study is based on the frequency with which residents in 109 different regions and towns search for terms related to a healthy lifestyle.

Leafwell’s experts utilized 305 different search terms for their analysis. These terms included queries like “how to be healthy,” “best way to lose belly fat,” and “how to meditate properly,” among others.

Tinton Falls topped the list as the city most interested in a healthy lifestyle, registering an average of 2,911 health-related searches per month per 10,000 residents. In total, the city averaged 5,665 such searches over the past year. The leading search terms in Tinton Falls were “gym near me” and “healthy food near me.”

Freehold ranked second, with an average monthly search volume of 1,980 per 10,000 residents, and a total of 2,475 searches over the past year. The city’s top two search terms mirrored those of Tinton Falls.

Westwood came in third, registering an average of 2,102 searches over the past year and 1,879 monthly searches per 10,000 residents. Westwood residents were most likely to search for “gym near me” and “Mediterranean diet.”

In fourth place was Burlington, with averages of 1,834 and 1,831 searches, respectively. Fifth place went to Woodbury, recording 1,602 total average searches and 1,595 monthly searches per 10,000 residents.

Rounding out the top ten were Red Bank, Woodland Park, Hackettstown, Ridgefield, and Ocean City.

Union City appeared at the bottom of the list, with only 269 average monthly searches per 10,000 residents and a 12-month total of 1,757. Newark, despite its significant population, also showed low interest, recording only 341 average monthly searches per 10,000 residents for health-related terms.
