New Jersey’s Blue Question Marks Leave Drivers Guessing, What Do They Mean?

Phil Stilton

A series of mysterious blue traffic signs with white question marks have left motorists along the New Jersey Shore scratching their heads.

The signs, featuring just a simple white question mark on a blue background, are placed in various locations including bridges, near parkway exits, and along the coast. While they generated speculation and humorous suggestions, their true meaning has finally been clarified.

The blue signs serve as markers to indicate the presence of informational kiosks, tourist centers, or other sources of tourism information. Located on roads near visitor centers and popular tourist destinations, the signs aim to guide travelers to resources that can help them during their visits.

Similar to the blue ‘H’ signs indicating a nearby hospital, these signs are part of New Jersey’s efforts to streamline navigation and assist both residents and tourists in locating helpful amenities.
