FREEHOLD, N.J. – Nazzir Wallace, 18, of Asbury Park, was arrested in relation to a shooting that occurred in late August, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.

Wallace faces multiple charges, including first-degree Attempted Murder, second and fourth-degree weapons offenses, third-degree drug offenses, and other charges such as fourth-degree Eluding and Obstruction of Justice. Wallace is also charged with Resisting Arrest, a disorderly persons offense.

On Wednesday, August 30, at around 11 p.m., Asbury Park Police responded to reports of gunshots in the 100 block of Memorial Drive. Shortly thereafter, a local hospital reported admitting an adult male with a gunshot wound.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department led an investigation that identified Wallace as the suspect. He was arrested late last week in Asbury Park following a brief pursuit. Upon arrest, Wallace was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm, as well as quantities of cocaine and heroin. He is currently being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending future court proceedings.
