Off-Duty NYPD Officer Arrested on Strangulation Charge

NEW YORK, NY – Off-duty NYPD officer Sunny Parmar, 39, was arrested and charged with strangulation in the 94th Precinct.

The arrest occurred on Monday, September 25, at 9:14 p.m. Parmar is currently held in custody as the investigation continues.

The New York Police Department has yet to release further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the arrest.

NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau is conducting an independent review of the incident. Parmar’s arrest could result in internal disciplinary action, in addition to the criminal charges he faces.

The NYPD did not respond to requests for comments at the time of this reporting.
