Multiple Shootings Reported in Charlotte Over the Weekend

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a series of shootings that occurred in Charlotte since Sunday.

On Sunday, around 3 p.m., a person was critically injured in a shooting on Morning Breeze Lane. No suspects have been identified. Later that evening, at approximately 7 p.m., 18-year-old Caleb Thompson was fatally shot on Eddington Street.

He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. A suspect has been identified, but their relationship with Thompson remains uncertain.


Another incident occurred on Sunday night around 10 p.m. at a Shell gas station on Mallard Creek Road. Joshua Howze, 24, was found dead from gunshot wounds, and another individual was hospitalized. Early investigations suggest a possible exchange of gunfire between the two.

On Monday morning, a shooting on Fairwood Avenue resulted in one person being transported to Atrium Health’s Carolina Medical Center with minor injuries. Another shooting on East Woodlawn Road left Chau Van Nguyen, 54, and an unidentified individual injured at an Exxon gas station. Damage to the property was also reported. No suspect information has been released for these incidents.
