MONROVIA, MD – A New Jersey truck driver faces murder charges after authorities discovered a woman’s body in his truck at the end of a police chase near a Monrovia Costco distribution center.

Frederick County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the distribution center around 1:30 a.m., responding to reports that the driver, identified as Matthew S. Watley, appeared impaired and had shattered his own truck window.

When approached by deputies, Watley refused to communicate and became uncooperative. Authorities placed spike strips before and after the truck to deter movement. Despite this, Watley attempted to drive away, running over the spike strips in the process. He eventually stopped at the exit lane of the distribution center but continued to ignore law enforcement instructions to exit the vehicle.

Law enforcement eventually used pepper spray and a stun gun to subdue Watley and take him into custody. At that point, officers discovered the deceased woman inside the truck. Her identity is withheld pending family notification.

Watley, a resident of Sicklerville, New Jersey, is charged with first and second-degree murder and is currently under medical treatment at a local hospital, under the watch of deputies.
