Mexican National Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking Charges in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Ana Gabriela Flores-Gonzalez, 32, a Mexican national, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute significant amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine. U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier presided over the plea, as announced by U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans.

On March 10, 2022, law enforcement officers stopped Flores-Gonzalez during a traffic interdiction operation. They seized approximately 4,889 grams of methamphetamine and 1,978 grams of suspected cocaine that she was transporting from Houston, Texas to Sumter, South Carolina.

Flores-Gonzalez faces a statutory mandatory minimum sentence of ten years to life imprisonment, a fine of up to $10,000,000, at least five years of supervised release following imprisonment, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100. Her sentencing is scheduled for January 18, 2024.


The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and assisted by the Biloxi Police Department in Biloxi, Mississippi. Assistant United States Attorney J. Benjamin Myers of the Narcotics Unit is prosecuting the case.
