Brooklyn Man Charged in Connection with Amsterdam Avenue Shooting

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department has apprehended and charged a 25-year-old Brooklyn man, Diamante Shell, in relation to an incident involving multiple firearm discharges, which occurred on Tuesday, September 19, at around 01:28 am.

 On Saturday, at approximately 12:35 pm, Shell was arrested and is facing numerous charges, including murder and various forms of assault.

The incident in question unfolded near Amsterdam Avenue and West 89 Street, with the victim—a 41-year-old male—suffering gunshot wounds to the buttocks and shoulder, and subsequently being transported by EMS to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition.


The NYPD had previously requested public assistance in locating Shell, described as approximately 6’2” tall, with a dark complexion, slim build, and blond short braids. At the time of the incident, he was observed wearing a black baseball cap, light-colored hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black sneakers.

With an ongoing investigation, the NYPD appreciates the community’s cooperation and asked continued assistance in ongoing and future investigations to promote safety in the city.
