PHILADELPHIA, PA – Jahad Snead, the 41-year-old man responsible for shooting four individuals inside a residence in the Lawncrest area, has been killed following a gunfire exchange with the police.
This incident took place early Monday at about 4:50 a.m. in the 6100 block of Shelbourne Street, inside the home Snead shared with two of the victims—Denise Snead-Doram, 63, and Greg Doram, 61, identified as the gunman’s mother and stepfather, respectively.
Officers arriving at the scene found three deceased victims in the front room. The fourth person, Snead’s sister, survived the ordeal and was transported to a local hospital for her gunshot wounds. After receiving her statement, police began their search for Snead, who had fled in a blue Honda Pilot.
The vehicle was located near E. Phil Ellena and Ross streets in East Mount Airy shortly after 7 a.m. During the police’s attempt to apprehend Snead, he fired a shot at them, prompting the officers to return fire.
Snead was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. During the exchange, a police officer sustained injuries from shattered glass and was taken for medical attention.
