TEMPLE HILLS, MD – Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has identified and charged two men in relation to a fatal shooting that occurred in June. The suspects, 49-year-old Jeffrey Coachman and 53-year-old Recco Bouknight, both from Washington, DC, are implicated in the shooting death of 19-year-old Tyzaiah Gaither, also from Washington, DC.

Officers responded to a shooting on June 22 at around 5:50 p.m. in the 3200 block of Naylor Road in Temple Hills. Upon arrival, they discovered Gaither outside, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Utilizing a range of investigative methods, detectives identified Coachman and Bouknight as the suspects involved in the fatal shooting. Preliminary findings indicate that both men shot Gaither multiple times. Investigators believe that Gaither had tried to steal money from Coachman prior to the shooting. After shooting Gaither in a parking lot, Coachman intentionally ran over him with his car as he and Bouknight fled the scene.

Both men are charged with first and second-degree murder among other related charges and are currently in custody in Washington, DC, pending extradition to Prince George’s County.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
