Cumberland Man Charged for Assaulting Juvenile, Threatening with Knife

CUMBERLAND, MD – On October 1, Cumberland City Police responded to East First Street and Seymour Street following an assault report. Upon reaching the scene, officers met a juvenile who stated they were assaulted and threatened with a knife by Mark Coleman.

Visible minor injuries were noted on the young victim. Coleman was not found immediately after the incident.

Subsequent to the event, an application for charges was presented to the District Court Commissioner. This resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for Coleman. By October 5, Coleman was detained and transferred to the Allegany County Detention Center. Following a court hearing, he was kept in custody without the possibility of posting bond.
