YAPHANK, NY – Brandon Sclafani secured first place again at the Anthony Bocchimuzzo 5K Run/Walk in Yaphank.

This marks the second consecutive win for Setauket’s Sclafani in this annual race. The event commemorates Anthony “Tony” Bocchimuzzo, who passed from a heart attack at 49 in 2017. A long-time employee at the SCPD Communications Section, the Suffolk County 911 Call Center was named after him in 2018.

Sixteen-year-old Sclafani, close to the Bocchimuzzo family, finished the race in 21:53. Following him was Elizabeth Licata from Bay Shore, the second overall and top female runner, with a time of 23:27.

The run, which saw participation from over 100 individuals this year, channels its proceeds to the Anthony Bocchimuzzo Memorial Scholarship. This award is given to Longwood High School seniors reflecting Bocchimuzzo’s principles of service.
