FRANKLINVILLE, NJ – The Lake House Restaurant, situated beside the serene Iona Lake in Franklinville, carries with it a tapestry of tales stretching back to the 1900s.

Originally erected by Polish immigrants, the establishment, then known as the Iona Lake Inn, was a hub of activity. Events, from dances to parties, marked its calendar, but as the years rolled on, so did whispers of its secret operations.

One of the prevalent rumors suggests that the Inn harbored an illicit brothel and an underground speakeasy during the Prohibition era. While there’s no documented evidence that renowned gangster Al Capone ever set foot in the establishment, stories suggesting his involvement in its concealed bar are hard to ignore.

However, what stands out the most in the Inn’s narrative is its paranormal reputation. Several sources, including Strange USA, label it as a haunt site, attributing the eerie occurrences to the spirits of its previous owners, a mysterious “lady in black”, and a ghost known as Victor.

Transitioning from its intriguing past, the building now houses the Lake House Restaurant. While guests might not always encounter the supernatural, they are assured a memorable dining experience surrounded by captivating views and a rich history that adds a touch of the ethereal to every visit.
