HARTFORD, CT – A morning dispute escalated to a fatal confrontation last Thursday, leading to two residents of a senior living facility on Clark Street, Hartford, losing their lives in a presumed murder-suicide.

Luis Dejesus, 67, is believed to have fatally shot Preeman Faniel, 73, multiple times following a heated argument outside their residential building.

According to Hartford Police, Dejesus subsequently turned the gun on himself. Officers arrived at the scene at around 11:43 a.m. in response to a Shotspotter activation.

While Dejesus was pronounced dead at the scene, Faniel was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Residents in the vicinity reported hearing an altercation followed by between five and ten gunshots shortly before noon.

Lieutenant Aaron Boisvert, of the Hartford Police Department, indicated through discussions with area residents that a seemingly minor argument unexpectedly took a fatal turn. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be shared as they emerge.
