Richmond Police Officer Recovers Dog After it Lept From Owner’s Car and Stolen

RICHMOND, VA – A day that started as a routine shopping trip turned into a frantic search when a local resident’s dog went missing from a parked car. However, thanks to the relentless efforts of Officer Foultz from the Richmond Police Department, this story has a heartwarming ending.

On a calm day, the dog’s owner returned to their car after shopping to find their beloved pet missing. A witness reported seeing the dog escape through a slightly open window and head towards the store, seemingly in search of its owner.

With no sign of their pet, the distressed owner approached the Third Precinct for assistance, although they were aware that the chances of a reunion were slim.

Yet, Officer Foultz refused to be deterred by these odds. Through his investigative efforts, he discovered that another shopper had seen an unidentified individual take the dog near the store and depart in a vehicle.

A review of nearby surveillance footage over two days led to the identification of a license plate, allowing Officer Foultz to locate the vehicle’s registered owner and recover the missing dog safely.

Foultz declined to file charges against the person who took the dog.
