Elderly Woman Holding Gun Shot and Killed by Police in Willow Grove

WILLOW GROVE, PA – A woman was fatally shot by the Upper Moreland Township Police in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, following a tense standoff on Sunday.

The incident unfolded just after 5 p.m. on the 100 block of Evans Avenue. Police and EMT crews were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call about a woman brandishing a firearm outside a residence.

Upon arrival, investigators report that the 69-year-old woman pointed the weapon at EMTs on the scene. Police issued commands for her to drop the weapon.


However, the woman did not comply and subsequently pointed the firearm at the officers. In response, one of the officers on the scene discharged their weapon, striking the woman.

The woman was transported to Abington Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The officer involved in the shooting has not been identified, and the woman’s identity remains undisclosed. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
