WASHINGTON, D.C. – A spokesperson from the National Security Council announced on Monday that nine U.S. citizens are among the casualties in the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The statement expressed condolences, saying, “At this time, we can confirm the death of nine U.S. citizens. We extend our deepest sympathies to the victims and their families and hope for a quick recovery for the injured. We are actively monitoring the situation and are in constant communication with our Israeli counterparts, especially the local authorities.”

Matt Miller, the State Department spokesperson, reiterated the details while speaking to CNN’s Phil Mattingly. Miller confirmed the department’s close coordination with the Israeli government.

“We are in close contact with the government of Israel as they continue to conduct security operations to locate missing US citizens. We are also in touch with the families of the nine deceased Americans, providing them with any consular support they might need,” said Miller.
