A local woman has been arrested for the attack.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi confirmed the arrest of 51-year-old Aurora Villacorta of Paterson in connection with the crime.

On October 11, at approximately 4:10 p.m., the Paterson Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of Carroll Street and Godwin Avenue after receiving reports of a stabbing. On arrival, officers discovered a 5-year-old girl with multiple stab wounds.

The young victim was immediately rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for medical attention.

Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh confirmed the child’s condition as stable, offering a small respite in what he termed has been “a very disturbing week.” He further added, “One of the most violent weeks in recent memory.”

The incident adds to the growing concerns about safety and violence in the city, demanding swift action and attention from authorities.
