Fatal Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of 59-Year-Old Man in Southeast DC

WASHINGTON, DC – Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit is currently investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred in the early hours of Thursday, October 12, 2023, in Southeast, DC. The incident resulted in the death of a 59-year-old man identified as Don Antonio Coleman of Southwest, DC.

According to the preliminary investigation, Coleman was operating a 2021 Harley Davidson Trike southbound on I-295 South at exit 1C, near Martin Luther King Junior Avenue and 11th Street, SE. At approximately 1:04 a.m., Coleman’s motorcycle struck a guardrail while on the ramp, causing him to be ejected over the barrier.

Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, and authorities have not released additional details about contributing factors at this time.


“The Major Crash Investigations Unit is thoroughly investigating all possible causes for this tragic accident,” said a spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police Department. “Our thoughts are with the family of Don Antonio Coleman during this difficult time.”
