New Jersey residents can expect a wet weekend ahead, with rain showers and cooler temperatures dominating the forecast.

On Saturday, there’s an 80% chance of precipitation, primarily after 1 p.m. The high is anticipated to be near 60 degrees, and winds will shift from a calm north direction to an easterly flow at around 5 mph as the day progresses. Rainfall amounts are estimated to range from a tenth to a quarter of an inch.

Come Saturday night, rain will continue to be the primary weather feature. The low will dip to around 48 degrees with a stiffening northeast wind at 10 to 15 mph. The chance of rain is high at 90%, and the state could see new precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch.

The morning may have some lingering rain until 8 a.m., followed by a slight chance of showers until 2 p.m. The high for the day is expected to hover around 61 degrees with a strong north wind at approximately 15 mph. The chance of rain diminishes to 30%, with new precipitation amounts estimated to be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

As the weekend closes out, Sunday night appears to be mostly cloudy but dry, with a low temperature settling at around 44 degrees. A northwest wind at about 10 mph will usher in the end of the weekend. Overall, it’s advisable to prepare for a damp and chilly weekend across the Garden State.
