Snow Hill Resident Wins $100,000 Scratch-Off Prize After Workday Pitstop

A hard-working farm manager from Snow Hill, Maryland, started the weekend off right with a whopping $100,000 win on a scratch-off ticket. The 41-year-old Eastern Shore man had just wrapped up his day job and was heading to his second gig as a landscaper when he made a quick pitstop at Royal Farms #167 in Salisbury to buy gas and Lottery tickets. Little did he know, this simple decision would result in a life-changing win.

He initially bought two $10 scratch-offs, scanning them to find he had won $20. Not one to quit while he’s ahead, the man reinvested his winnings into two more $10 games, one of which was the Ultimate Cash instant ticket. Upon scanning the new tickets, a message popped up that he had never seen before: “Contact the Lottery claim office.”

“I almost had a heart attack when I saw all of those zeros,” the Worcester County resident said after he scratched off the ticket to reveal the substantial prize. Still in disbelief, he chose to share the good news in person with his wife. “I told her, ‘Our debt is paid,’” he recounted, adding that his wife was initially confused until he showed her the winning ticket.

Claiming his prize this week at the Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, the fortunate man described the experience as “pretty cool.” He has already mapped out what he intends to do with the winnings. Top on his list are paying down debts and making home improvements. But he also has his eyes set on a vacation, some funds for the Christmas season, and putting a portion into savings.
