Coastal Flood Advisory in Effect for Ocean County Today

Daily Weather Report

SEASIDE PARK, NJ – Ocean County residents are advised to exercise caution as a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EDT this afternoon, according to a Coastal Hazard Message issued by the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ.

The advisory warns of up to one foot of water inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. Areas specifically affected include both Ocean and Coastal Ocean counties.

“Flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible,” states the National Weather Service. In addition, the advisory also notes the possibility of “another round of spotty minor to minor tidal flooding” with the Tuesday morning high tide.

Residents are urged to take precautionary and preparedness actions if travel is required. This includes allowing extra travel time due to potential road closures.

The National Weather Service advises against driving around barricades or through water of unknown depth and encourages taking the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.

The advisory concludes with a reminder that the time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour, affecting areas such as Barnegat Bay at Barnegat Light.
