WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that ensued following a vehicular collision early Sunday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Fanning Oaks Drive around 3:10 a.m. based on reports of a shooting.

On-site, they identified a man with a gunshot wound to the back. The injured man, a passenger in a work van, had been involved in a minor accident with another vehicle.

This other vehicle, reportedly occupied by four unidentified Hispanic males armed with handguns, pursued the work van after the initial collision. Subsequently, multiple shots were fired at the van, with one bullet striking the victim.

He was quickly transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries. Details about the incident remain scarce, but the investigation is ongoing.
