Atlantic City, NJ — The Atlantic City Police Department announced the arrest of a local man, Abdurrahim Abdullah, 42, on multiple first-degree charges related to narcotics trafficking.

The arrest came after security personnel at Tropicana Atlantic City discovered a substantial amount of illegal drugs and weapons in a hotel room that had been vacated during an eviction process on October 13.

According to the police department, the items found in the room included “11,695 individual bags of heroin, more than 3.3 pounds of unpackaged heroin, 40 grams of cocaine, 820 ecstasy tablets, paraphernalia used in the manufacturing and distribution of narcotics, and three handguns.” Detectives from the Special Investigations Section took over the investigation and, with assistance from Tropicana security, identified the owner of the contraband as Abdullah.

Abdullah returned to the Tropicana on the morning of October 14, attempting to gain access to his former hotel room. He was promptly taken into custody. The charges against him are extensive: among them are three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) with intent to distribute, three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, and additional counts relating to money laundering and possession of a “ghost gun.”

Abdullah has been remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
