Man Struck by Crossbow Bolt While Walking in Bailey’s Crossroads

FAIRFAX CO., VA – A man was struck by an arrow from a crossbow while walking on a sidewalk in Fairfax County early Sunday morning, according to local police.

The incident occurred around 12:05 a.m. on Oct. 15, on the 3400 block of Carlin Springs Road in Bailey’s Crossroads. The arrow penetrated the man’s backpack and entered his back, prompting immediate hospitalization.

The arrow went through the man’s backpack and into his back according to Fairfax County police.


While the injuries sustained were not life-threatening, the man received treatment before being released from the hospital.

Detectives working on the case have preliminarily determined that the arrow was fired from a crossbow. “Preliminarily, detectives believe the arrow was shot from a crossbow,” stated the police.

They are now focusing their efforts on uncovering the circumstances that led to this unusual and dangerous event.
