In Baxter, Minnesota, Cambie Elizabeth Broker, a 33-year-old registered nurse, has been indicted for fraudulent acquisition of prescription opioids from a hospice clinic. As per the court filings, Broker, while serving as a case manager at the clinic, manipulated the e-prescribing system to illicitly acquire oxycodone, hydromorphone, and fentanyl for personal usage and unlawful distribution.

She made her first court appearance in the U.S. District Court, with Magistrate Judge Micko presiding. The indictment follows a joint investigation by the DEA and the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Bradley M. Endicott leading the prosecution. It’s pertinent to note that an indictment is a formal accusation, with the defendant presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
