On the evening of October 12, 2023, 29-year-old Wazir Davis from Roselle was arrested following a coordinated response by the Linden and Roselle NJ Police Departments.

The arrest, which transpired around 10:00 p.m., was initiated by the activation of a Raven gunshot detection device in the vicinity of Dill Ave & Adams St. Officers on scene attempted to halt Davis, who was seen leaving the area. However, Davis dashed across E. St. George Ave, leading officers into an apartment building.

The swift intervention of Roselle NJ Police Department officers, who were already nearby, resulted in Davis’s apprehension on the building’s second floor after a brief confrontation. A subsequent inspection of his apartment yielded a 9mm handgun loaded with hollow point bullets.

At the time of his arrest, Davis had multiple outstanding warrants from Union and Roselle.

Davis is now facing several charges including second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess a firearm, third-degree resisting arrest, fourth-degree possession of hollow point bullets, and fourth-degree eluding. He is currently held at the Essex County Jail awaiting a scheduled Superior Court appearance.
