A 43-year-old middle school teacher in West Virginia faces arrest following accusations of physically abusing a male student using duct tape and another “stronger tape” to restrain him during class sessions.

The alleged incidents took place earlier this month at Central Preston Middle School in Kingwood, West Virginia. Cassandra Sisler was arrested last week and charged with four counts of child abuse concerning these allegations, as reported by Weston CBS affiliate WDTV.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the male student recounted to the West Virginia State Police that the tape restraint began on October 2 and continued daily until October 5.

The report reveals Sisler used the tape to cover the student’s mouth, bind his hands, and wrap around his head amidst ongoing classes. The affidavit, obtained by Clarksburg NBC and ABC affiliate WBOY-TV, detailed that the tape covering went from “ear to ear,” causing noticeable redness and soreness to the student’s lips and mouth.

Sisler was a Democrat candidate in the 2020 West Virginia House of Delegates District 53 election. She lost.
