Embattled New Jersey Democrat Facing New Charges After Recent Cocaine, Meth Charges

FLEMINGTON, NJ – Malik Johnson, a Democrat elected official who was arrested earlier this year for possession of cocaine and methamphetamines is facing new charges.

The Flemington town council member now faces charges of unlawfully taking money from the Flemington Democratic Club, according to authorities.

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson and Flemington Borough Police Department Chief Jerry Rotella jointly announced the charges today. The investigation, initiated by the Flemington Borough Police Department, led to Malik D. Johnston, also known as Pippin J. Folk, 47, being charged with third-degree theft by unlawful taking.


On June 2, Mr. Johnston withdrew $1,000 from the Flemington Democratic Club’s bank account at a branch in Bridgewater, NJ. At the time of the transaction, Johnston was a former officer of the Club without permission or lawful authority to access the account.

Third-degree charges can result in a term of imprisonment between three and five years and a fine not to exceed $15,000.
