New Jersey Congressman Chris Smith is the Only Logical Answer for Speaker of the House

Phil Stilton
U.S. Congressman Chris Smith

TOMS RIVER, NJ – New Jersey Congressman Smith has a reputation in Washington, D.C. for being a bi-partisan deal-maker and a master of diplomacy and compromise. He’s not too Trumpy and he’s not too anti-Trump. He’s right in the middle and with Republicans unable to call on one of the newsmaking sound-byte Twitter big hitters, it’s only logical that Chris Smith should be the next speaker of the house.

Smith has been in Congress since before most of Congress was born. He’s been in D.C. so long that he blends in with the furniture inside the House chamber.

He’s that guy who always shows up for work, gets the job done, and closes deals, but never shows up drunk at the afterparty making obscene and politically incorrect comments that everyone talks about on Monday. He goes home and comes back to his cubicle on Monday morning and gets the job done. He never boasts or brags.

Most people in the office don’t even know who he is, but they know that he’s that guy you can count on when you need it most.

If Democrats can’t get behind a Congressman like Smith, then they’re never going to get behind anyone. Even Republican Benedict Arnolds like Tom Kean, Jr., of New Jersey would be fools to vote against Smith.

Smith getting the next round in Congress will be a true show to America about who is playing games in D.C. (the Democrats) and who is not. It’s time for the adult in the room to stand up and take the gavel.

We don’t need soundbite warriors, Twitter heroes or anyone from the popular kids crowd, we need an adult to whip all the spoiled, whiney brats into order and conduct business on behalf of the American people. Maybe even put AOC in timeout for a bit.
