NEWARK, DE – In a series of events that included a vehicle and foot pursuit, Delaware State Police arrested 32-year-old Hyneiff Jackson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, yesterday afternoon on multiple criminal charges.
On October 19, at about 4:24 p.m., state troopers patrolling the area saw a silver Hyundai Tucson driving south on Interstate-95 near Basin Road in Newark. After witnessing multiple traffic violations committed by the Tucson, troopers initiated a traffic stop. Jackson, identified as the driver, failed to comply with troopers’ verbal orders to exit the vehicle. Instead, he accelerated, leading authorities on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended on Ogletown Stanton Road, where the vehicle became disabled.
Jackson exited the vehicle carrying a black bag and continued to flee on foot, ignoring troopers’ commands to stop. After a brief struggle, during which Jackson resisted handcuffing and reached for the black bag, he was finally restrained. Troopers then noticed the handle of a handgun protruding from the bag.
A subsequent search revealed a loaded handgun, several rounds of ammunition, one pill identified as MDMA, and $3,117 in what is suspected to be drug-dealing proceeds. Further investigation showed that Jackson, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Jackson also has several active arrest warrants and capiases from Pennsylvania, Georgia, and New Jersey.
