Two Shootings Reported in Akron

AKRON, OH – The Akron Police Department is currently investigating two separate shooting incidents, one of which has left an individual in critical condition.

The first incident occurred at 4:35 p.m. on Wednesday inside the Stop and Go Mini-Mart located on the 1200 block of Diagonal Road.

Officers arriving at the scene found a 27-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An altercation reportedly occurred in front of the store, leading to the shooting. A 23-year-old suspect was later arrested on Hardesty Boulevard, but charges are still pending.


The second shooting took place near the Rubber City Lounge on the 400 block of North Main Street. At about 12:10 a.m. on Thursday, police found a 42-year-old man with gunshot wounds in a parking lot.

He was taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, where he is now in critical condition. Witnesses in the bar reported hearing gunshots, but the exact circumstances remain uncertain as the suspects fled the scene.
