Red Bank Catholic Tops Toms River North in Powerhouse Showdown

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Red Bank Catholic prevailed in a dramatic overtime battle against Toms River North, securing a 35-28 victory on Friday night.

With both teams holding strong records—Red Bank Catholic at 7-1 and Toms River North at 7-2—this Shore Conference showdown did not disappoint. Toms River North’s Micah Ford opened the scoring with a 76-yard touchdown run, but Red Bank Catholic quickly responded as Frankie Williams found Emmanuel Ross for a 57-yard touchdown pass. Two field goals by Justin LaMorte put Red Bank Catholic ahead 13-7 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Toms River North took the lead with a 5-yard run from TJ Valerio and a 29-yard pass from Valerio to Camryn Thomas. Red Bank Catholic regained the lead with a 12-yard pass from Williams to Jack Bohm-Squicciarini and a successful run by Ross for the two-point conversion.


The fourth quarter saw Toms River North pull ahead again with a 24-yard pass from Valerio to Nasir Jackson. Red Bank Catholic’s Matthew Lonczak tied the game with a 1-yard run, forcing overtime.

In the extra period, the Williams-Ross duo sealed the deal for Red Bank Catholic with a 25-yard touchdown pass, securing the 35-28 win.

Frankie Williams led Red Bank Catholic in both passing and rushing with 301 yards through the air and 94 on the ground. Emmanuel Ross was the standout receiver with 184 yards. On the defensive end, Logan Graham had two sacks, and Davin Brewton led in tackles with 13.

Micah Ford was the leading rusher for Toms River North with 100 yards, while Camryn Thomas led in receiving with 50 yards.

Red Bank Catholic improves to 8-1, while Toms River North drops to 7-3.
